Halloween has arrived in SL, and no one does it better then Ryker Beck of Exodi. If you can only get out to one or three Halloween events this year, make sure you don’t miss this one. It is running now thru Oct 23, 2009 at Exodi. Take the teleporter outside the main shop, and you’ll find yourself in a beautiful, tho haunting, autumn world.

Exodi Quest For Flesh 2009
Upon arriving, you’ll see some info signs, click them for details and make sure to read the hunt rules, and a candy bucket for gathering. You’ll be searching for 23 various candy bars, each containing a different prize.

Exodi - Emo Couple
Make sure to bring your special someone along for the fun, not only is it a great date night out, but you’ll both be able to enjoy the prizes as there are skins for males as well as females, and the eyes are unisex.

Exodi - Date Night
The hunt runs for one week only…so don’t delay too long. However, if you don’t have time to do the hunt, the skins (not Doc Manhattan) will be available in the Exodi store after the hunt thru Halloween. You know you do not want to miss anything Exodi, so don’t miss this hunt.

Imagine – a sim full of skins! Designers from across the grid, all gathered in one place to show their latest and sexiest skins!!!! The Skin and Shape Expo 2009 opened its doors Sept 26 and runs thru October 10 at KMADD Events. While of course, this is not inclusive of all skin designers on the grid, it does include dozens of some of the best SL has to offer. You’ll also find many of the top shape designers here if you’re feeling like you’re needing a serious change for the new season.

The Expo is well planned, the lag is minimal, provided you take the usual precautions when attending any event in SL that involves more then a small handful of people. This should be common sense, and I’m not going to go into any of the details here, but a few adjustments to your outfit and your client settings (does not include turning on ARC meter to check other antendee’s ARCs) as well as prepping your computer beforehand really helps in these situations. Sasy Scarborough has painstakingly provided a list of all direct url’s to each store for everyone’s convenience. I’d also suggest if you are walking thru it, to refer to the map as you go so you can keep track of where you’ve been and where you are going.
You can easily visit all the booths in an afternoon or evening, depending on how much time you look at it all and visit along the way. I highly recommend, as I do with all event shopping, and even more so with skin shopping, that you make the rounds and grab the demos. Take them home and try them on in the privacy of your own home. This way you can take your time, check all the bits and make ups as well as trying various lightings and make wise well planned purchases.

Also, you should note while wandering at the Expo, that select skins (and/or shapes) are set for a donation to the Susan G Koman Fund. Each participating designer has agreed to give a portion of their sales of specific items to this charity. This really is a must do event, you can give back to RL a bit, while getting some new skins and shapes for yourself.

Kriss Lehmann of Botanical has sent out a notice thru his SOM alerting us to some news affecting his RL friends near his home in the Philippines. Typhoon Ondoy, also called Ketsana, hit with a vengence this weekend. I wont go into details here, we all know how devastating these storms can be, for more info, you can check CNN.

Kriss Lehmann is known throughout SL for his amazing trees, which decorate many a sim across the grid. Dick (my partner in all things SL) and I share a love for Botanical trees, and when I heard this news, I knew I had to help get the word out. Kriss has touched all our lives with his creativity and beauty, whether we know it or not, you cannot wander very long without seeing his trees and his landscaping textures. For the next two weeks, your purchases at Botanical will not only further beautify your life, it will give back to RL. Kriss will be donating 50% of all sales during the next two weeks to help locals affected by Ondoy. Shai Delacroix, another talented artist beautifying our lives, will also be donating 50% of all sales at Casa Del Shai for the next two weeks to the same.
Kriss has set up a donation kiosk in world at Botanical, you can also find them at Casa Del Shai and other locations also (not available at the time of this posting). If you’d rather, you can also donate directly at the website for Red Cross Philippines.

If you have not visited Hair Fair 2009, I do recommend you visit before it is over, even if only for a short visit, now that the crowds are down a bit, lag shouldn’t be such an issue.
This is my third experience with Hair Fair, my first being as an unsuspecting hair addict and shopper in 2007. I remember first seeing the posters and waiting what seemed like weeks for it to begin, and tp’ing the moment it opened…and getting in on my first try…little did I know what was about to happen. I stood at the landing point, in a sea of people, all trying to lag in. I could not move. I was blind, could not see a thing other then a Ruth here and there. Being a true hair addict, I did not give up. Back then it was only on two sims, and I have no idea how many vendors, but I quickly learned to use the boxes rez’d for our convenience, and to take the demos home and come back later to purchase. By Hair Fair 2008 (4 sims by that year) my addiction had grown considerably and I was a brand new hair designer, lucky enough to be participating in Hair Fair.

Hair Fair 2009
Now it is Hair Fair 2009, and again I am participating as a designer as well as a shopper. This year it is again 4 sims, and approximently 120 designers. It is my opinion that Hair Fair is the best fashion event SL has to offer, and the volume of people attending and steadily nearly full sims is proof of this. The build this year is amazing, each designer having done something unique following the Candyland theme. As I am sure everyone is well aware of by now, Hair Fair’s chosen charity is
Locks of Love. All designers at Hair Fair have selected a hair whose purchase will donate 50% or more to LoL.

Hair Fair 2009
July 3rd is Bandana Day. Bandanas created by many designers have been donated and are for sale at 50L, 100% of proceeds going to
Locks of Love. You can find them on each of the sims near the landing points. Remove your hair and wear your bandana to show your support for this great charity and event.
Hair Fair 2009 kicked off June 20, and has been extended two extra days, so you now have thru July 6 to get there. For your convenience, there is a full list of participants with
SLURL’s to their booths at the
Hair Fair blog.

June 27, 2009
June has been a busy month for me with rl happenings, Hair Fair 2009 preparations etc but finally Thursday I started taking pics for this blog post that has been on my To Do list for too long. Ryker Beck has outdone herself with her newest skin, Shiloh. Shiloh was released earlier this month under the new name Exodi, replacing Genesis as the Ryker Beck label. It is no secret that I am a huge fan of Ryker’s work, and I was fortunate enough to get to beta this skin, and had been sooo anxiously awaiting it since that little peek. I love the previous skins, Eden and Candace, and I knew this was going to be something special. I was not disappointed. I have a feeling Shiloh will be my fave skin for quite a long time, the one I’ll always go back to.

Exodi - Shiloh - Oceania : Gone Wild
Shiloh is available in 4 skin tones, Caramel being my favorite (of all Exodi skin tones in fact), and the one shown here. The initial release of Shiloh included 8 make ups, all very yummy and offering a good selection from the bestest red lip ever, to a soft natural look. Later, Shiloh – Oceania was released, which includes 8 tropical summery make up options. Shiloh offers the same quality of detailing and muscling that Candace offers, but is much more refined. I love the belly button, the nipples…are just nearly perfect, the details on the knees and arms…even the nails! The shadows and detail of the spine and collarbone are simply the best, and of course, the ears! All Shiloh Skins are available at
Exodi.

Exodi - Shiloh MakeUps
As I was taking pics for this blog post, rumors began to come of the tragic loss of Michael Jackson. As a long time faithful fan of MJ, I was stunned by this news. Following the wake of this news Ryker Beck did something amazing…she put all of the Shiloh skins, as well as Eden2, the jewelry, clothing, and select other items at Exodi, on sale for 50% off, with 100% of all sales thru July 3 to go to Make a Wish Foundation in memory of Michael Jackson. She has taken a horrible day, and done something great, allowing us all an opportunity to mourn the loss of an exceptional person and artist, while at the same time giving back. This is a perfect opportunity to try the Exodi skins, as well as her other creations. Thank you Ryker for sharing your art and your love.
Michael, may you finally find the peace and love you deserve, and may we all come to understand what a gift your time with us was. As I watch my daughter’s love of music and dance grow to include an appreciation of yours, I know that what you gave us will continue to grow and be appreciated in the years to come.

Exodi - Michael Jackson Sale
The sale is only at
Exodi Main Store location.
